Guardian Home Program

 Why a Guardian Program?

To be a breeder of quality Doodles we need to continue to evaluate and add quality bloodlines into our breeding program.  In order for us to give our dogs the best possible home, it is important for us to limit how many dogs we keep in our home. Because of this, we have decided to place some of our breeding dogs in guardian homes so that they can receive the proper attention and love they most definitely deserve and have a happy life with their forever family.

We are giving the dog to the guardian family to raise and love and keep as a member of their family.  This program allows local families an opportunity to own one of the best dogs available without paying for it. The family must be approved as guardian parents and agree to abide by our contract of care.

The guardian home program is an excellent situation for the dog, it's a great deal for guardian parents, and is ideal for producing an exceptional Doodle breeding program. It is one of those "win - win" situations for everyone involved.  The family receives a quality, top pick dog for their forever pet, we are able to improve the breed by using only the best for bettering the breed, and most importantly -- the dog lives in a forever home, receiving one-on-one attention, training, love, and care.

Becoming a Guardian Home is not for everyone. You MUST be willing and able to follow these requirements:

  • Provide grooming on a consistent basis.

  • Must teach basic commands such as sit, stay, lay-down, leave it and walk on a leash.

  • Be willing to socialize the puppy. This is very important!

  • He/She must be an indoor pet and never left unattended outside.

  • Feed a premium, quality food that Apricot Roots Doodles recommend.

  • All other dogs in the home MUST be fixed if they are the opposite sex.

  • Provide regular exercise.

  • Be willing to allow Apricot Roots Doodles to visit your home.

  • Contact Apricot Roots Doodles immediately in the event of a serious illness or accident.

  • Send a copy of all vet visits to Apricot Roots Doodles.

  • Must not allow he/she to mate with any unapproved dogs.

  • Provide veterinary care when needed.

  • If you are a guardian for a female dog, you must be willing to drop her off for 1-2 weeks while she is bred. Then drop her back off 1 week prior to her whelping date. She will stay with us until the puppies are weaned.

  • If you are a guardian for a male dog, you must be willing to drop him off for 3-5 days for breeding unless arrangements are made ahead of time for us to pick him up.

  • Be able to communicate with Apricot Roots Doodles about scheduling testing, mating, whelping, and anything else breeding related.

If you are looking for a cuddle buddy, Jack Jack is your man! Jack Jack is our mini poodle stud that has passed all of his genetic and health testing. Jack Jack loves to cuddle and go for car rides. He's  a happy-go-lucky little fellow who loves everyone.
